At Franck Provost we love love love balayage! Our hairdressers are masters in the art of balayage and freehand colouring with the ever involving hair colour technique being an absolute favourite of ours. We asked our stylish team at Franck Provost Paddington to talk us through some of this year’s coolest balayage hair colours and tell us why they think you guys need to try them!
#1 Coffee Inspired Hues - Jessica Beil
Call us coffee snobs… we don’t care! If there’s one thing that the Aussies and the French have in common it’s the love of a great coffee! Therefore it’s no surprise that coffee lingo has infiltrated the hair colour world and we are here for it! These colours focus attention on highlights that are blended in such a sophisticated way that they emulate the way smooth frothy milk swirls around in coffee when making a latte or cappuccino.
#2 Muted Tones - Lily Aldridge
This year we’ve seen the rise in popularity of softer muted tones in balayage. Bold warm and ash tones have been pushed aside (at least for now) in place of a more neutral palette. These neutral tones like beiges, sands and biscuits are here in a big way which is great because they are universally flattering, enhancing skin tone and making your eye colour pop!
#3 Shimmery Bronde - Elizabeth Olsen
The bronde hair colour is an oldie but a goodie. Updated for 2022 with light reflection and dimension. Less is more with this one – teeny tiny babylights blend seamlessly into hand painted mid-lengths and ends. The babylights catch the light in a kind of twinkly iridescent way whilst the more saturated ends use your hair’s natural colour depth to create oodles of dimension.
#4 Pearlescent perfection - Kesha
A balayage where the ends of the hair are lightened to the lightest shade of blonde and then toned with an opalescent pastel shade that has a sort of mermaid quality. This kind of colour is best suited to medium and lighter hair depths that are strong and in great condition. If you have a darker hair type to begin with or you have lots of colour already in your hair then this colour may not be possible to achieve or it may take several appointments in the salon to get you there.
#5 Colour Pop - Julianne Hough
Give any sort of balayage a kick with an injection of colour. The colour pop balayage is a really quick, easy and fun way to create a totally different look to suit your mood. The lighter your balayage the more colour pop options are open to you, think of your blonde balayage as a blank piece of paper ready to be coloured in! Pastel pinks and soft bluey purples can look fab, help to reinvigorate your look and warm up skin tones. As the pastel tones are semi permanent they are low commitment and you can change them often to suit your mood!
#6 High Contrast Balayage - Sarah Jessica Parker
Looking for a head turning balayage? This one could be right up your alley. This super blonde colour is contrasted with deep and dark roots that blend through with chunky dark ribbons to really make the blonde look even blonder! This high contrast balayage is really impressive on mid to long hair and works best if you have naturally dark hair that lifts easily and is in great condition.
#7 Chocolate Addict - Ashley Green
Satisfy your craving for chocolate with a confectionary inspired balayage. This is for when you want to dial up the warmth within your hair. The super sumptuous shine enhancing reddish undertones in these balayages are perfect for the autumn and winter months as they breathe a whole new life into winter skin. Tasty!
#8 Indian Sun Holiday Vibes - Kaley Cuoco
We may not be able to go to India right now but we can bring a little bit of India to your hair! This Franck Provost exclusive balayage technique is a totally bespoke service that works in harmony with your face shape and features. Our highly skilled stylists strategically paint colour around the key areas around your face to enhance your best features with soft touches of sunkissed goodness that give no harsh regrowth lines. What’s not to love?
#9 Rooty Lived-In Cool Girl - Ana de Armas
Get Instagram ready with the rooty lived-in balayage. Softy shaded roots give us that lived-in feel that cascades into luscious creamy vanilla blonde that radiates confidence and lustre. Effortless-looking beachy, sun-kissed hair that is low-maintenance and we are obsessed!
#10 The Full on Face-Frame - Sable Yong
The classic face framing highlight aka ‘the money piece’ has gained some serious weight in 2022! The days of dainty little streaks around the front of your face are numbered as face frames are getting bigger and bolder. Imagine the chunky 90’s blonde streaks at the front of your hair fused with the super soft blendiness of a classic face frame and you have the ‘2022 full on face frame’. Gorge!
